Stimulus Presentation

Reducing background activity in Windows
- There are many processes operating in the background of the Windows operating system, such as networking, system checks, anti-virus, etc. These processes can significantly influence and throw off the timing of your stimulus presentation and triggering.
- The site below describes in detail how to create a system profile on a Windows XP machine and how to personalize that profile for use with stimulus programs such as Presentation and E-Prime (i.e. to reduce unwanted background activity during experiments). One of the pages below gives default configurations to get better performance. The SuperUser profile seems good for Presentation, but you may want to disable additional software that you have installed yourself.
