Nicolet Portable Clinical System

“Cheat sheet” for setting up the clinical system for a grid patient (helpful when testing triggers with portable clinical system machine): Setting Up Second Clinical.docx

Portable Nicolet Clinical System Login Information:\

Username: portable##

Password: nicolet01

  1. Grab a portable machine from EEG monitoring room (make sure it’s not a sleep study or mapping computer)
  2. Ensure you have a CLTM amplifier (and not V44) and at least one 64-electrode jackboxs
  3. Bring equipment into our office
  4. Turn on the portable and ensure a working Ethernet cable is plugged in
    1. Log in pw for every portable: nicolet01
  5. Open up “Nic-Vue”
  6. Click “New”
    1.  Patient ID: Pt initials and “Clin2” ex: “CB_clin2”
    2. Insert patient last name and first name
    3. Insert tech name (your initials or whatever)
  7. Click “NicoletOne”
  8. Select protocol (NYU64 or NYU128, whichever is appropriate)
  9. Click “verify” – if unable to verify, make sure you have the appropriate amplifer and jackbox and that the connection is solid. Also check Ethernet connection
  10.  Once the recording page opens up, click “settings”
  11. Click “protocol” at bottom of page
  12. Highlight the appropriate protocol (either NYU C64 or NYU C128, etc)
  13. Duplicate that protocol, and title it the patient’s name (last name, first name) and “clin2” (ex: “Boomhaur_Callah_Clin2”)
  14. Save and apply
  15. Click “grid/strip”
  16. Click the edit button

Use the “clin 2 montage” for the following:

  1. Use the drop down menu to choose the number of contacts (ex: 10 contact LTM strip, stainless steel)
  2. Click the “ADD” button and name it appropriately (for example, “LTM” or “PO” or GA” etc
  3. Repeat for all grids/strips
  4. If you need to turn off any contacts, start of the top
  5. Click the + button to expand the strip/grid
  6. Uncheck/check the contacts as necessary
  7. When finished, click the – to unexpand
  8. Expand the next one down to turn off/on any contacts until completed
  9. Click “OK”
  10. Click “save” and name it the name of the patient and “clin 2” (ex: “Boomhaur_Callah_Clin2”)
  11. Click on “sensors”
  12. Duplicate the 10-20 group and name patient name +clin2 (ex: “Boomhaur_Callah_Clin2”)
  13. and if the DC channels are not already there, insert them
    1. Name – insert for DC1 through DC 12
    2. type for DC1-8 is “pulse”
    3. type for DC9-12 is “EXT DC”
    4. change the color to teal
    5. Save
  14. Click on “Amplifer”, make sure all of your electrodes are turned on, that the sensors are correct, and all Sampling Rates are set to “common”
  15. Select SEEG DC1 through SEEG DC12
  16. Select and type in the appropriate sensor for each input
    1. Example”: “SEEG DC1” input will be sensor “DC1”
  17. Sampling rate for all DC channels are common
  18. Save and Apply
  19. Click “Montage”
  20. On the left, if correct montagbe available select it (and name the pt name and Clin2), if not, click the “new” icon, and label it the patient name + clin2 (ex: “Boomhaur_Callah_Clin2”)
  21. Make sure it’s using correct reference (example: Active should be “LTM05”, while Reference will be “LTM06”, then the next will be “LTM07” and reference will be “LTM08”
  22. For electrodes, you want to lick “audio” and not “special”
  23. Insert DC channels 1-12 under “active”
  24. For DC channels:
    1. Reference: should be “Ref” and not “bipolar” (if you do this once you’re good. You will notice, frustratingly, that once you exit out of the settings it reverts back to “bipolar”. Don’t worry about it.
    2. Color: Teal
    3. Label: the DC channel (either 1-12, as appropriate)
    4. DC1-8: click “audio”and not “special”
    5. DC9-12: click “special” and not “audio”
  25. Save and apply
  26. Click “sets” at the bottom of the page
  27. Click the “New” icon
  28. Give the set the patient’s name
  29. Move your montage over from “mantages” to “montages in set”
  30. Click save
  31. Click on “Detections” at the bottom of the page
  32. Highlight LTM
  33. Verify Spike and Seizure are turned on
  34. Click on “Misc” at the bottom of the page
  35.  Verify Impedance Test is unchecked
  36. Click on Protocols” at the bottom of the page
  37. Verify the montage set is in your patient’s name, the montage is in your patient’s name and detection is LTM
  38. Click save and apply
  39. Exit out of Settings
  40. Select the electrodes (not DC channels), and on the right, change sensitivity to “70.0”
  41. Click notch at the top of the page
  42. Select the DC channels, right click
  43. Selected “selected traces”, then “display type” and select “trace” (rather than numerical)
  44. Select DC channel 9-12 separately and select “Adjust selected” and change sensitivity to 500 and the deflection to 1000
